Updates:

  • Still no chapter, but I did just publish 30+ pages on Wuyi and yancha, and a 2 page end-note on the history of the papaya. This ends the sequence of trip reports for the year, so I'm back to writing the books full-time without (too much) distraction.
  • Thank you to everyone who attended the recent Talk, Taste, and Triage (TTT) events. We had nice turnout, fun conversations, and great teas. The next session, focusing specifically on teas from my recent Wuyi trip (Wuyi Revisited Trip Report above), is scheduled as follows:
    • TTTTT (Tea Technique Talk, Taste, Triage) Wuyi Yancha
      Thursday July 24th at 6:00pm.

These are in-person sessions for subscribers, hosted in my Manhattan tea room in NYC. Subscribers are welcome to bring 1 guest.
  • We will be returning to our usual Talk, Taste, Triage formatting next month, with a few changes to better account for capacity and tasting planning. For those who have not yet attended: Talk, Taste, Triage is a reoccurring small group gathering of tea practitioners; my goal is to allow readers to ask questions, request experiments, learn about specific types of tea (their variations, quality levels, or other comparisons), and to bring tea or wares for identification, troubleshooting, or critique. Subscribers area also most welcome to join us without any topics or troubleshooting in mind - there's always good tea from my collection to taste and enjoy together!
  • To help us with capacity planning in future events, we are asking everyone to RSVP from now on; if you plan to attend a Talk, Taste, Triage event, please reply to the Change Log email or text Jason. If you have special requests for tastings or experiments, please include the idea in your RSVP - this gives me a chance to select teas and plan out the best way to accomplish the ideal tasting sequence; incomplete ideas are totally OK, we can figure it out together. No need to over-plan: I can usually handle tea and ware ID without prior research or references, so don't feel bad about grabbing a last minute tea or a recently arrived ware.
  • I will be doing a recorded conversation with my friend and fellow writer Max Falkowitz from Leafhopper this week - drop us a note here if there are any topics you'd like to hear us discuss!
